Bush and Nirvana, I was born in a rural Iowan town of 4,000 to a bowling alley manager and a country club bartender. An aspiring artist since the age of five and an aspiring designer since 15, my resume boasts such distinctions as class coloring contest winner and the best MySpace layout designer that any of my friends knew. To spare you the awkwardness that was my teenage years, we'll flash forward a few years and a few hundred miles to my home for four years at Iowa State University. From there I developed a real understanding and passion for all aspects of design, and I moved on from fluffing MySpace with sparkly stars to fluffing my resume with involvements in workplaces and several organizations that I couldn't imagine my college career without. I managed to learn quite a bit while doing the whole student gig (but coloring books remained a favorite hobby). That brings us to now, when—after 22 years of growing pretty fond of my rural home—I made the logical next step and moved clear across the country to the 2nd most densely populated city in America. I started out doing the intern thang at Hatch in San Francisco, and luck was enough of a lady that I still get to show up there every day as a full-timer. Thanks for stopping by!
